How much does wedding catering cost in Barcelona?

Catering is usually the biggest part of a wedding budget. Here's what it costs in Barcelona, what drives the price and how to get the most out of it.

In Barcelona, wedding catering costs around €80 per guest on average, with a typical range of €50 to €135, according to industry listings. It’s a guide figure: the final price depends on several things, and it helps to understand them.

1. Typical prices by menu type

Format Typical price per guest
Long cocktail reception (standing, no seated dinner) €50–100
Seated menu (canapés, two courses and dessert) €65–120
Premium or chef-led menus €90–180

Market ranges in Barcelona and Catalonia, 2025–2026. They vary by supplier and season.

2. What the price usually includes

Before comparing quotes, check what each one covers:

  • Canapés: how many pieces per guest and for how long.
  • The menu: starters, main course, dessert and cake.
  • Drinks: wine, cava and water with the meal. An open bar is usually extra.
  • Service: waiting staff, set-up and clear-down.
  • Equipment: tableware, glassware, linen and basic furniture.
  • Late-night food, if the party goes on.

Two quotes with the same price per guest can be very different depending on what’s included.

3. What drives the price

  • Number of guests. With fewer guests, the price per person tends to go up: fixed costs are shared among fewer people.
  • The venue. Some have in-house or exclusive caterers; others charge a fee if you bring your own.
  • Season and day. A Saturday in June doesn’t cost the same as a Friday in November.
  • Format. A well-planned cocktail reception can be more affordable and more lively than a long seated dinner.
  • Extras: live cooking stations, cocktail bar, cheese table, late-night snacks.

4. Making your budget go further

  • Choose the right format for your guests and your timings.
  • Prioritise. A generous canapé reception and an excellent main course beat many average dishes.
  • Seasonal, local produce: more flavour and often better value.
  • Ask for a tasting before you confirm.
  • Read the small print: staff overtime, venue fees, VAT (IVA in Spain).
